Veteran Iranian actor Jamshid Mashayekhi reacts to recent massacre of civilians in Afghanistan.

Veteran and recognizable Iranian actor Jamshid Mashayekhi urges thespians in the country to slam recent massacre of civilians in Afghanistan.

According to a Friday local media report, Mashayekhi extended his sympathy over the recent human tragedy in Afghanistan during a phone conversation with the head of the Institute of Veteran Artists, Abbas Azimi.

Militants have recently massacred dozens of civilians, mostly Shia Hazaras, in “a brutal, inhumane way” after attacking a village in a remote area of Afghanistan’s province of Sar-e Pul.

The actor also called on other artists in Iran to slam the latest killings in Afghanestan, the report added.

Born in 1934, Mashayekhi left his studies in Theater. In 1963, he played a role in the short movie 'Snake Cover', directed by Hajir Daryoush.

He officially began his acting career in 1970.

Mashayekhi's debut movie ' Brick and Mirror' (1965) did not kept him away from being involved in theatre as he kept playing roles on stage for years and remained faithful to this fine art.

He has been honored with the First Grade Order of Art and Culture.

His roles in historical TV series such as ' Kamal-ol-Molk' (1984) and 'Hezar Dastan' (1987) exhibit his acting ability.

He has appeared in numerous movies, including ' The Cow' (1969), Retribution' (1987), ' The Fateful Day' (1994), ' A House on the Water' (2001), ' Thirteen 59 (1980)' (2010) and ' Cheque' (2011).

Mashayekhi has also taken parts in several TV series such as: ' Autumn in the Desert' (1985), ' Imam Ali' (1991), ' The Lost Paradise' (1996), ' Mother' (1999), ' Tabriz in Fog' (2010) and ' It's All There' (2014).
